School’s out for the Class of 2017 with another incredible AWOL done and dusted…

Once again scores of men converged on The Laird in their finest fetish gear, for one of our favourite weeks and we couldn’t be more chuffed with the results.

Our week kicked off with AWOL’s traditional bare-arsed opening ceremony, JOCK PARTY on Monday, which saw the venue packed to the rafters with sexy sweaty men in their skimpy best.

The week’s other big party, CODE BLACK, sold out for the eighth consecutive edition, as over 300 men revelled in a breathtaking array of leather. The Laird and MANNHAUS present the next instalment of Code Black on 10th February with tickets on sale 1st December from Mannhaus. Get in early to avoid disappointment!

On Friday, STEPHEN MORGAN (LLM 2015) was our (head)master of ceremonies as the pub packed out to see who would follow in the proud footsteps of our LAIRD LEATHERMAN 2016, BRAD REDMOND. All students received high distinctions but in the end it was young JAMES ADDINSALL who took top marks and was awarded the 2017 title.

We offer massive thanks and congratulations to the graduating class of 2017 – CAL, DARREN, JEFF and of course LLM 2017 James for flying your fetish flag proudly.

Tuesday evening saw a perfect time for a brand spanking new AWOL event, the HAND JOBS art exhibition – celebrating male sexuality and fetish, co-ordinated by DOWN AN’ DIRTY and JIMMY TWIN (winner Men on Men 2017). A total of 18 pieces of hand drawn art were donated by a range of local artists and sold for $30 each with all proceeds going towards The DAVID WILLIAMS FUND.

Congratulations to the three winners who will have their artworks featured on the Down an’ Dirty 2017 CRUISE CARDS. Check out the AWOL Hand Jobs page to check out the winners and learn more about the competition. Thanks to all artists and buyers for their support.

We wish to offer a special shout out to the patrons who came expecting an actual hand job, better luck next time fellas!

We truly went back to school on Wednesday as EAGLE LEATHER’s very own BJ conducted SESSIONS in which our excited class gathered for two intimate lessons about beginner bondage and advanced flogging techniques.

Joining BJ were JOHN CHESHIRE (MRM 2017), DR GEORGE FORGAN SMITH and Sessions participants all walked away wiser (and maybe a little tender) as well as scoring a set of the latest Down An’ Dirty tea-towels.

Spit and Polish got the HIGH SHINE treatment on Thursday. As the anticipation built for Friday’s competition we were treated to buzz cuts by BARBERFELLA, boot shining by International Mr Bootblack 1st runner up RHYS and rope bondage demonstrations by RIVERKEEPER. Then it was time to meet the four naughty schoolboys competing for the 2017 Laird Leatherman title, with host BEN RIETHMULLER (LLM 2012) and his assistants.

On Sunday we came together one last time as a TRIBE where last year’s valedictorian Brad Redmond announced the results of a sensational year of fundraising for QUEERSPACE. In total he RAISED A STAGGERING $8600, way to go Brad!

Then it was time to formally welcome our new Class Captain –James Addinsall to give his first official speech as Laird Leatherman.

As Sunday tradition dictates at The Laird, the crowd chowed down on delicious barbecued meats while getting down to cheeky beats served up by DJ PAPA TOM.
